
The St. John’s Prep Red Storm shocked the city when they moved up to the A Division after making the B division title game the previous year. Many probably thought that they wouldn’t adjust well but Coach John Kiggins and his staff developed their team and got some key transfers that would help them build a championship team. Daquan Bryant, Ryan Edwards, Jacob Gomez and Patrick Rouse had one of the best cores in the city.
The St. Joes by the Sea Vikings out of Staten Island is a squad that has always been in the mix when it comes to the conversation CHSAA class “A” Contenders. With a great squad that includes Matty Stole, Paul Testaverde and Nicholas Rebracca, the Vikings were a force that was going to give SJP their best shot. The Red Storm finished last season defeating PSAL AAA City Champion Achievement First HS in the PSAL vs CHSAA Champions Challenge. They went on to finish 10 in the NYSSWA rankings with Graduate Jacob Gomez finishing his career third team All-State and now senior Daquan Bryant finishing 2nd Team All-State. Patrick Rouse is starting his collegiate career at Daemen University in Erie County, NY.
