This year’s Mount St. Michael squad may be one of the best young teams in the city. We got our first look at the young mountaineers this past Friday as they hosted Monsignor Scanlan in a late Friday night CHSAA “AA” matchup.
The game was close throughout the first half but in the second Mount’s hot shooting took over and they built a 54-40 lead going into the third quarter from there they never looked back as they dominated en route to a 78-51 win.
Sophomore guard / wing Derek Lugo went off for 25 points to lead Mount Saint Michael in the win. In the second half Lugo hit five threes during their second half surge starting in the third quarter.
