
The 2025-26 season introduced us to some first- and second-year athletes in the PSAL & CHSAA who have made a major impact on their varsity teams. Many have played a huge role in their team’s success, and others have shown the potential to become future stars before their high school careers are over. These teams consists of players in the Class of 2029 and 2028 who have played on the varsity level.

HDNYC CHSAA Rookie of The Year
Malachi Miller 6-0 PG Holy Cross
Malachi Miller’s freshman campaign came with many notable performances in some key wins throughout the regular season and postseason played a huge part in HC’s first trip to the CHSAA “AA” division final four since 2015 where he scored a game high 17 points against champion Archbishop Stepinac. Miller showed out at times when it mattered most and solidified himself as a future all league player in the CHSAA.

Omari Reede – Eagle Harlem (Percy Sutton)
With Averages of 17 points 10 assists and 5 assists per game, the 6-1 PG had one of the most productive seasons as a freshman on the varsity level in the PSAL. Reede finish the 25-26 season with the best average in assists per game across all divisions.
