Team Zone 6 Made Their Mark

After this summer,  Zone 6’s run as a new team in this annual summer Series might not be ever duplicated. This squad which featured mostly members of the New Heights 17U squad went undefeated throughout the whole season and made the chip with some of the best talent and Elite Coaching. Despite the loss in the Chip there’s no denying they will be in the mix of Contender’s next season. Coaches Rahme Anderson and Rodney Frazier along with the GM work of announcer Rah Slime isn’t something to frown upon.

West 4th’s (Girls) Cinderella Story 

West 4th started the NY vs NY Season 8 0-2, but the turning point for them came when they took down Lincoln Park to start Week 4, then upset heavily favored Watson in the semifinals.  West 4th’s chance at a second straight title ended when Team Dyckman in the chip got their payback but the coaching staff likes their chances of getting back next summer. 

Payback Season for Dyckman Girls 

A Year after falling short in the chip to West 4th in season 7, Team Dyckman (Girls) came back with a vengeance with an impressive run to the chip where they avenged last summers loss by beating West 4th In Overtime. Giovanna Burress, Sanai Yates, Corrine Lomax and Journey Atkins were the core group of players that led this team on this run. 

The Continuous Rise of Emerging Stars and The Future of NY vs NY. 

Regular season MVP’s Kamari Whyte (Zone 6) Crystal Thomas (Watson) made their mark throughout the summer earning the inaugural regular season MVP award and the chance to play in the Slam Summer Classic Vol. 8 with some of the top players in the nation. Guards such as Troy Fason (Tri-State) and Josh Charlot (Dyckman) continued their huge summers in NY vs NY after putting the nation on notice at Peach Jam.

NY vs NY was the coming out party for many young players set to begin their High School careers in the fall. Incoming Christ The King freshman Jennifer Pinnock had the best debut of any 8th grader in NY vs NY history with a 33 point performance against Dyckman on July 28th.

NY vs NY added the Jalen Brunson Guard Camp this summer where the top guards in the area got the chance to learn from the NBA Finals MVP along with the top coaches and trainers in the game. Achievement first HS PG Tyler Romeo and Monsignor Scanlan PG Crystal Thomas were the MVP’s of the Inaugural camp.

Back 2 Back For Tri-State !!!

Team Tri-State concerned many people when they fell to Team Watson on Week one, but they adjusted quickly and went on a huge run through the regular season and the playoffs capturing their second straight title last  Saturday with the big comeback win against Zone 6. It was quite the introduction for championship MVP Jeremy Jenkins to the NYC crowd scoring 17 points in the win. Archbishop Stepinac guard Josh Rivera who played a big role on this team is a two time NY vs NY champion as well as Troy Fason. Last summer when Anderson Diaz ran the show and led TSC to their first chip, Fason was dealing with an injury. This summer Fason help led his team to Tri-State’s 2nd straight championship to cap off the amazing summer he has had before heading out to Florida to finish his last year at DME academy.

With Season eight in the books, it won’t be long before season nine begins and the city can only imagine what will be in store for the next summer.
